Positive Response to Dogpile Memorial Day Art
May 29, 2006

This was my seasonal design for Dogpile.com's home page on Memorial Day that received an unusual amount of
positive comments. Below is a selection of comments received:
Thank you so very much for this special design. It brought tears to my eyes. I am a Retired Air Force fighter pilot who fought in Viet Nam and was in on the beginning of Gulf War I. Once again thanks for thinking about those who gave everything for all of us.
I would like to say that your Dogpile image of the Vietnam War Memorial and flowers were very much appreciated. Great Job!! You guys are awesome.
I have been saving your logo pictures for a while. I just wanted to say that today's pic is probably the best. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your tasteful protrayal of your mascot at "The Wall". As a veteran, I appreciate your caring attitude.
I am impressed with your tribute to Memorial Day design. It is a very fitting way in which to remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice to maintain our freedoms.I will be switching my search habits from Google to Dogpile, and recommending your site to all of my friends.Have a good one!
Thanks for remebering our troops and puting up a very heatfelt graphic.
Thank you for your note on your "Go Fetch" page honoring our veterans today. Google didn't bother to do that.
Thank you for recognizing Memorial Day. Very tasteful and well done.
Thanks for your observance of Memorial Day. As a veteran, I appreciate it. You are the best search engine around.
In observance of Memorial Day, I find it outstanding that you have honored the fallen American Heroes with your website. I am baffled as to why Google would not change their logo as they usually do for holidays, but in the best interest of their greed, they do not want to celebrate the victims of war that have fought against some of their international prospects. If not for their sacrafices, America would not be the FREE country that it is known as, and Google would most likely not exist. So as a service member in the United States Navy, I thank you for honoring the fallen.
Thank you for recognizing Memorial Day. Very tasteful and well done.

Just wanted to thank whoever was responsible for the two touching 'Arfie' graphics you had posted on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. One of the many reasons 'Dogpile' is my search engine of choice.
I just wanted to say that I appreciated your taking the time to put your logo in an observance for Memorial Day. Thanks!!! (TSgT, USAF (Ret), Father of two Marines in Iraq.)
Dogpile is and has been my homepage for a long time now. It's obvious that you have more resources now than in the past... the graphics change more frequently with holidays. But this one... man. I mean, have you ever actually been to the wall? It's hardcore. A lot of people visiting the wall on cloudy days wear sunglasses. Your graphic hits a nerve.
Thank you for remembering those who have died while protecting the United States. Strange that Google couldn't be bothered. They honor the Persian New Year but not Memorial Day.Shame on Google. Thanks to Dogpile and Ask.com.
Thank you for honoring Memorial Day with your home page logo. I have just changed over all of my family's home pages to Dogpile, and I will be recommending the same for all of my family and friends.I sent Google a 'Dear John' letter - I doubt their bloated organization will care much. They are too busy preparing logos for Bastille Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday (important stuff).Again, thanks.
I would just like to extend my thanks to you for placing recognition of this sacred day on your website. I was rather aggravated to find that google has not yet placed a picture/link for Memorial Day. As an Iraqi Freedom veteran, it is rather disturbing to find citizens who exercise their right to disagree with the drafters of foreign policy by focusing their frustration on the executors of foreign policy.Woe be the day when our nation's foreign policy executors ARE the drafters, or the executors do not follow the lawful orders of the drafters. Unfortunately, this is not the prevailing logic in the utopian cradle of California and its ideological corporate campus where utopianism is the rule of the day.Thank you for your regognition. The cartoon was drawn in very good taste. (Lance Corporal, United States Marine Corps)
Thank you for your honoring of fallen soldiers.
I have known about dog pile for about 9 years now, and have been a pretty faithful user. I always love to see what arfie is going to do next. On this Memorial day I must commend the effort that has gone into portraying the true meaning of memorial day. He could have been standing in front of a BBQ grill flipping burgers, or throwing a foot ball around, but you folks at dog pile have managed to capture a very meaningful moment, for a very meaningful day. Thank you for this.
Thank you for taking the time and respect of those who use your homepage, and remembering why we have this "holy day."
Thank you for the Memorial Day front page.
I want to thank you for your patriotic message on your main page. It was nice of you to take the time and trouble to honor our vets. I noticed that Google did not desire to recognize this important holiday on their main page. I will be using your search engine for now on even though it is linked to google.
Thank you for your kind Memorial Day picture for the website!! As a mom of a Navy recruit, I give you a heartfelt thanks that you are showing the heart of the day and the reason for the day, not parties!
Thanks for remembering Memorial Day - from a Vet. We need folks like you to keep bringing us together with small gestures like this.
Thank you so much for showing today's dog with his head bowed in prayer. Even little things like this mean a lot to those of us who have lost a soldier. It is a respectful gesture we appreciate.
Arfie touches our hearts and makes us smile.
